It happened last week, starting on Monday 11th January and finishing on Friday the 15th, the I Meeting of Electronic Arts, where people from many differet places of Brazil came to see what was going on. Our first idea was a meeting (de)constructive, build, hack, modify, learn, teach, freedom of knowledge. Several workshops were presented, Basic Electronics, Processing, PureData, and others (the videos of the presentations will be distributed when people finish editing).

On Tuesday night we made a walking trip crossing the dunes till we find Joaquina’s beach. After swiming in the cold waters, we walked back on a thick rain, amazing, it was long ago since the last time I walked on the rain wanting it!

We learned/teched a lot in this event, one thing that we’ve noticed is that creative minds work much better after midnight. There was no point planning anything for the morning because no one could wake up before 11h.

On Thursday night a party was organized, where we put in for a test some projects developed during the event, for example a Breathalyzer using a Alcohol Gas Sensor MQ-3 sensor, LEDs and an Arduino. By the way, never seen so many arduinos in one place, in different sizes and colors, beautiful!

You can check some pictures from my Flickr:

Are you like me, who uploads almost every photo you take to your Flickr Account? Right now, I’ve uploaded 6,472 photos. What if the hard drive where all your precious pictures are stop working? What would you do, start downloading your pictures from Flickr one by one, no way right?

Open-Source FlickrEdit came to help us all with this hard duty, to download all pictures from your Flickr Accound with some few clicks. It have been written in JAVA and makes the process of downloading all your pictures a easy work.

Just after opening the program, it will ask you to enter your login and password, so it will be able to get the needed information about your account. After that you will be able to see all your photo sets, like the picture below:

With this program, you can select to download all pictures from a Set, all pictures, your favorites and much more…

When you’ve selected “Backup Selected“, it will ask you where you want to save, you can still save your pictures to CD or DVD (haven’t tried this option, if you do, let us know).

While backing up, it will check how big will be the download, and then it will start downloading to the folder or media you’ve selected.

.

After the backing up process is done, just go to your selected folder and your pictures will be there!

Thanks to Diogo Azevedo

Sometime ago, I wanted to do something to show the pictures in a flickr set in a easy way for my websites. I wanted to make a link that would open a small window in the same way as “View as slideshow” in a new window in flickr website. So I decided to build this script. After reading the paulstamatiou.com‘s HowTo: Embedded Flickr Slideshows, I decided to release my script to the web. It’s simple but can be useful.

V1.0 – You can download the script here.

	DEMO HERE

More information about installation are located in the .php file.

Hope this will be somehow useful. Please, if you liked this, or have any suggestion or correction, just leave a comment.
